HalfHourMeals.com

HalfHourMeals.com is a niche social network that connects food enthusiasts, amateur cooks, and professional chefs. It features member-submitted recipes, discussion area, and directory of food and cooking.
I purchased it in June 2009 on flippa and totally redesigned it into an online community cookbook for anyone who cooks and needs fast recipes and tips to connect.
The relaunch was a complete redesign included a blog directory, shout boxes and discussion area. There are 941 user submitted recipes on the site. Users have the ability to create a a shopping list from the recipes.
The network has 1,613 members today. It also include a user submitted blog directory that we developed after my main site blogcatalog. You can see it here. http://www.halfhourmeals.com/blogs/
Each user has a profile page and has the option of adding their blog, which displays their most recent blogs posts. This is essentially a foodie blogger network.
All blogs are approved in an admin area. Recipes are also approved in the admin area. It takes about 5 minutes of work a day.
Users can share, rate, discuss, and discover a broad range of recipes, cooking topics, and food enthusiast conversations.
Each day we receive approximately 15 to 20 new recipes and 4 blog submissions. In July, revenues which are generated only from google are $58 to date as we are promoting the site on blogcatalog.
Despite my real desire to hold onto halfhourmeals, I am in a position where I need to sell assets, to fund the relaunch of my primary online business, blogcatalog.
I’d prefer not to sell this site. It’s a great name and the difficult work of getting a community going has been done. However, because of blogcatalog, and a change by google that affected our revenue dramatically, I have not had the time to market haflhourmeals.
A few days ago, I started featuring it on blogcatalog and revenues for this month are around $58. A cooking community is a great niche. And there are plenty of opportunities to grown the site. I simply don’t have the time and am not in the position to hold onto it. The reason revenues and net are equal is that server costs are zero, as it is on a blogcatalog server. The new owner can have hosting for a year included.
There is a google widget that has a few thousand installs.

Revenue Details Revenues are approximately $100 a month.
In July they are already at $58 as I moved the ads into a better spot and we began to highlight the site on blogcatalog.
Traffic Details
Page views I know because of google ads I know page views are approximately 1,100 a day, though since I haven’t installed analytics I don’t know the exact number of visitors. I’d be happy to install analytics if you want exact traffic numbers.
